About the teacher

My name is Alexander Burgun-Tower and 2021 will be my fourth year teaching 7th grade science at the Ottoson Middle School. I grew up in Massachusetts and received my undergraduate and master's degree from UMass Amherst. I have been an educator in Nepal and Michigan, as well as in Massachusetts in Needham, Wayland, and Springfield. In Michigan I taught environmental science and ecology by leading outdoor excursions and giving presentations in classrooms with native animals. I am an avid hiker and runner, and (humble brag alert) although I have trekked in the Himalayas, my favorite trails are right here in New England.

I am very excited to join the Ottoson team as we explore the natural world together!
