Welcome to the METCO Program

Dear Parents and Guardians:

Welcome back and welcome to our eleven new families that have been accepted into the program this year! I hope you had a relaxing and enjoyable summer spending time with family and friends, spending days at the beach, traveling to new places, or catching up on a good book. Between spending days in the office and leisure time with my family, I had an opportunity to reread Tim S. Grover’s book, Relentless: From Good to Great to Unstoppable. “Grover explains how to be strategic in being unstoppable in everything you do: you keep going when everyone else is giving up, you thrive under pressure; you never let your emotions make you weak. In “The Relentless,” he details the essential traits shared by the most intense competitors and achievers in sports, business, and all walks of life. Relentless shows you how to trust your instincts and get in the Zone; how to control and adapt to any situation. Grover gives you the same advice he gives his world-class clients— “don’t think”—and shows you that anything is possible.” As I find myself rereading parts of Grover’s book, my aspiration this year is to show the students how to be academically Relentless!

Our first METCO Parent’s meeting will be an Ice Cream Welcome Back Social, which will be held on Wednesday, August 22nd, at V.F.W. Boston Police Post #1018 500 Morton Street Dorchester, MA 02124 (see flyer). During the social, parents will be given the new bus routes and will have the opportunity to pay their $50.00 (per family) donation to the program.

I look forward to seeing everyone on the 22nd and if you have any questions before then, please do not hesitate to contact me at (781) 316-3566 or mthomas@arlington.k12.ma.us

Sincerely,

Margaret Credle Thomas
