One of our goals is to learn basic spanish words and phrases so we can have conversations with the locals

Each student was given a book to read about the history of Guatemala; books vary in topics about human rights, genocide, migration and the daily struggles faced throughout history 

We have a total of five meetings planned before we head out on our trip. Each meeting we will have a group presentation about different topics like the Guatemalan Civil War, current state in Guatemala, agriculture and economic state.
