In questo fumetto, La Voragine, Zerocalcare commenta un tema attuale quel momento in 2022 mentre succedevano le proteste attraverso Europa: la scelta per dare il trattamento di 41-bis a Alfredo Cospito (un anarchista che ha fatto esplodere un edificio senza alcune vittime).
41-bis è una classificazione intesa per i criminali più pericolosi (almeno in teoria). I criminali di 41-bis devono vivere nella segregazione cellulare, ed a causa di questo trattamento estremo, molte persone non sono d'accordo che sia un programma appropriato. Quindi, La Voragine chiede al lettore per considerare se il protezione dei diritti umani è davvero inerente, o solo per le persone più meritevoli.
Attraverso questo fumetto, Zerocalcare sottolinea questo argomento mentre anche affronta l’idea che 41-bis è solo per i criminali più pericolosi per la società. Sul una pagina, Zerocalcare menziona i massacri del passato. Ogni di questi eventi sono successo a causa della mafia, ma nessuna di queste persone ha ricevuto i condizioni come 41-bis.

About the Creator
The creator of this comic is Michele Rech (pen name, Zerocalcare), a very famous Italian cartoonist known for his ability to demonstrate serious themes with art and comedy. For example, in the past he won awards for his graphic novel Forget My Name about the death of his grandma, and Kobane Calling about the Kurdish resistance.
About the Context
In this comic, La Voragine (The Abyss), Zerocalcare comments on a current theme from a moment in 2022 while protests were happening across Europe: the choice to give 41-bis treatment to Alfredo Cospito (an anarchist who exploded a building without any victims).
41-bis is an intense classification for the most dangerous criminals (at least in theory). The criminals under 41-bis must live in solitary confinement, and because of this extreme treatment, many people do not agree it is an appropriate program. Therefore, La Voragine asks the reader to consider if the protection of human rights is truly inherent, or just for the most deserving people.
Throughout this comic, Zerocalcare underlines this argument while also confronting the idea that 41-bis is only for the most dangerous criminals for society. On one page, Zerocalcare mentions massacres of the past. Each of these events happened because of the mafia, but none of these people received conditions like 41-bis.
