April Athnos

Greetings!

I am the newest Professor of Practice in the Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics at the University of Arizona in Tucson, AZ, USA.

This fall I am teaching AREC 150C: Sustaining Life: The Global Food Economy and AREC 313: Economics of Futures Markets.

I earned double major Ph.D. in Economics and Agricultural, Food, and Resource Economics. My major field of study was Environmental and Resource Economics and my minor field was Food and Agricultural Markets.

My dissertation research focused on water regulations, non-market valuation, and policy adaptation. I studied on-site water systems and public water systems to better understand how resource management impacts stakeholder behavior.

I also contribute to interdisciplinary research teams investigating consumer preferences. At present, we are investigating the attributes U.S. consumers value for seafood and leafy green products.

My future research interests include applied and agricultural economics pedagogy as well as undergraduate research opportunities and impacts.
