Supporting Students Throughout The School Year
The Counseling Department supports students not only when individual concerns arise, but also through preventive, developmental, and school-wide programming designed to strengthen social, emotional, relational, and behavioral skills.
Classroom Guidance Lessons
Age-appropriate lessons are provided throughout the year to help students develop practical skills for school and life. This year's topics will align with the campus' monthly virtue focus.
Individual Support & Check-Ins
Students may meet individually with the counselor for brief check-ins, student-initiated drop-ins, problem-solving, or skill-building when concerns arise during the school day. School counseling is brief, school-based support, not ongoing therapy or psychotherapy. Parent/guardian consent is required for individual visits after a student's first visit.
Small Groups
Short-term groups may be offered based on student needs identified throughout the year. Groups provide opportunities for students to learn and practice skills alongside peers around topics such as friendship, social skills, emotional regulation, coping with change, or other common concerns. A separate consent will be provided for participation in a small group, and will have to be signed before a student can participate.
School & Community Involvement
The Counseling Department partners with teachers, staff, students, and families throughout the year. This may include participation in Communitas, classroom observations, student wellness initiatives, parent and staff resources, school-wide activities, and collaboration to address emerging student needs.
Our counseling program is designed to be proactive as well as responsive, building skills before problems arise while providing support when students need it.
