Unit Title: Creative Writing
Unit Description: Throughout this unit, your ward will inquire into how we express their emotions and feelings . They will understand that emotions are a part of who we are and they allow them to express themselves in a variety of ways! Through words, writing, actions, clothing, movement and several others, people express ourselves. They will inquire into how thoughts, emotions and feelings can be expressed creatively and interpreted through poetry.

How can I, as a parent, get involved?
Ask your child about the theme, central idea, and concepts that they are inquiring into … show interest in their units of inquiry and plan activities around them whenever you can.
Encourage your child to “find out” rather than giving them answers.
Ask your child about the Learner Profile attributes- point them out in other people, in yourself, and in your children’s actions and speech…
Have conversations with your child. Ask them questions such as, “what is something interesting you did today?”.
Help your child develop their ability to reflect. Reflection is a key element of the learning process and is part of the action, an essential element of the PYP curriculum framework.” What makes you say that” and “what would you do differently next time” are some types of reflection questions that parents use to help support students as they are reflecting on their work/actions.
