Meet the Team
Welcome to the bullying exhibition website! We are a group of inquirers who met for a reason. We strongly believe that Bullying is a serious issue that affects people in many ways and are willing to make a difference in our school and world. In this website, we will highlight the most important parts of our exhibition process and share important information on Bullying and how to prevent it.

Our Wonderings
Here is our Theme Board
What is Bullying?
OPENMINDED- We worked in five groups to create our own definitions of bullying. After that, we all came back together and combined our definition to form a common one. We showed good social skills because we worked in groups and good communication skills because we shared our ideas and listened to our friends ideas.
As thinkers, we were able to combine all the four definitions into one!
What are the Types of Bullying?
Verbal Bullying
It is using bad and harmful words to bully others.
Physical Bullying
It's harming others by using physical force such as pushing, pulling, kicking, beating, slapping, pinching..
Social Bullying
It's making fun of someone in public and damaging a person's social relationships.
Cyber bullying
It's using electronic devices such as iPads, computers, cellphones to bully people on the internet.
Cyber Bullying during COVID-19
Cyberbullying has been on a rise and is now very common due to COVID 19 because of the increase in kids and teens using digital platform. This map above shows information about Cyber bullying. We worked in pairs to discover the what, where, who, why, and how of cyberbullying and think of ways to prevent it. We learnt that COVID and cyberbullying are connected.
A sneak peek into our Investigation Process
KNOWLEDGEABLE- We all had different wonderings on Cyber Bullying, so we researched to find them out and shared out findings in very short presentations.
We used the Adjective Strategy to help us unfold and better understand the concept of Bullying.
Because student agency is highly valued, we had the choice to choose the type of Bullying that we want to know more about and inquire into it.
See us Webbing our findings on Cyber bullying using Coggle!
THINKERS- Using Coggle was a new and exciting experience for us because it helped us figure out how to make mind maps to organize our thinking.
We researched, read books and watched videos to find out the causes and effects of bullying. Then we organized our findings in a cross-comparison chart to show our own understanding.
THINKERS- We were planning our role play to explain the causes and effect of bullying. We enjoyed this role play because we developed our social and communication skills.
COMMUNICATORS- We were rehearsing for the roleplay. It felt so real at a certain point!
Watching each other's Role Play helped us understand and brainstorm the different causes and effects of Bullying.
We watched various videos and we learnt that people become bullies because of different reasons related to family and mental issues.
THINKERS-We used a variety of cross comparison charts to help us sort out information to spot patterns and come up with our own conclusions.
This is how we used our thinking skills, to gather facts from our investigations and develop our own understandings.
Connections to ARIS
INQUIRERS- With the help of Mr. Tee, we conducted a survey using Google Form to find out more about Bullying in ARIS. After we collected the answers in this survey, we found out that more than 60% of students from year 4-7 have been bullied and all except 2 in different ways.
Our Survey Questions and Results
After inquiring into the causes and effects of Bullying, here goes our Understandings!
The relationship between parents and their kids play a big role in a child's life. A positive relationship between parents and children result in positive children. Children who do not have good relationships with their parents, might end up bullying others.
People may bully others because they simply look different. Body appearance is a major cause of bullying.
Laws, rules and policies are required in schools and countries to prevent bullying from happening.
We understand that bullying may arise as a result of family issues, physical appearance, learning disabilities and bad attitude.
What are the Effects of Bullying on People?
Negative Effects
Negative effects-
We understand that bullying may lead to mental issues, eating disorders, poor academic performance and physical harm.
Positive Effects
Positive effects-
We understand that bullying may lead to improved social, communication and self management skills.
Our Responsibilities towards Preventing Bullying...
Parents play an important role to fight bullying, such as...
1.communicating with their child about ways to prevent bullying
2. discussing the issue with the teacher/principal
3. knowing the people who target their child
4. avoiding to over-react
5. focusing on solving the problem and not placing the blame on their child
Schools play an important role in preventing and dealing with bullying some of the roles are:
creating anti-bullying laws and policies on bullying awareness strategies in school
educating teachers and parents on the importance of bullying and how to prevent it
Students may be bullied at any time, but they have a role to play that can help fight it, like:
Inform a teacher when a student gets bullied.
Avoid being alone.
Do not bully the person who bullied you.
Treat everyone with respect
Speak up for yourself and if not, just ignore them.
Remember that everyone is different but not better neither worse.
If you feel you have bullied someone in the past, apologize to them
The Role of ARIS in preventing Bullying
A quick overview of our Research Process into the Role of ARIS
We showed good self-management skills because we inquired into the Role of ARIS in preventing Bullying and were able to complete the work on time.
We also showed good communication skills because we had to speak and listen to our group members while sharing their findings.
We were inquirers by accessing the ARIS website to skim and scan information related to the policies and systems ARIS has in place to fight Bullying.
Aim of the Security Policy:
Ensure physical safety of students in all activities
Have clear sanctions against bullying
Regard against self-harm
Not to post students' pictures online.
The ARIS Buddy System helps pair up old and new students on the first day to help fight bullying and other forms of abuse such as harassment ,teasing and exclusion.
This is a Child Protection Policy Workshop where teachers share their ideas on bullying, cyberbullying and other problems like health and safety, it is based on the Child Protection Policy.
The student council elections is to elect a new head boy and head girl to represent the Student Body. The aim of these elections is to give students voice and to help them inspire, empower and transform.
The aim for the emotional counseling is to:
Equip students with practical skills to live healthy, safe, productive and responsible lives.
Encourage positive attitudes towards learning.
The purpose of the CPP is because ARIS wants to protect children, at school and at home from being harmed and abused in any form.
Our Actions
Action 1
Saad, Hovig & Pierre
The way we took action was to send Dr. Fatma/school principal a message on why we need a buddy bench in the school.
The next steps we will take in the upcoming weeks are:
Design a buddy bench with Madam Farah and Mr. Daniel
Work with the administration to figure out where to put the Buddy Benches
Promoting it to our community to secure the funding for it
Explain to the students the importance and use of the Buddy Benches
A sneak peek at the process
We took different actions as the result of our learning. Some of us created brochures to share useful tips with parents, teachers and students. Others are working on having Buddy Benches in the school. Some of us created Cartoons for younger kids to raise awareness on the importance of Bullying. Take a look at the video to see the process.
We created a brochure to help students with tips about bullying.
Ethan, Saad, Hovig, Nathan
We created this brochure to give tips to parents on how to react when their child gets bullied. Were gonna take action by printing out the brochure and handing it to parents.
