Hello, everyone!
I’m Mrs. Ford, and I am beyond excited to be teaching Science and Social Studies with your child this year! If there’s one thing I love, it’s helping students explore the world around them. Whether we’re diving into hands-on science experiments, uncovering fascinating moments in history, or learning how people, places, and discoveries shape our lives today. Science and Social Studies are full of curiosity, creativity, and connection, and I can’t wait to make this year both meaningful and memorable for our 5th graders!
This is my 15th year teaching and my 5th year here in Argyle. I received a dual degree in Psychology/Child Development and Elementary Education from Penn State University. GO STATE! When I’m not in the classroom, you can usually find me visiting historical sites and traveling with my family, reading books, cooking, or attending Broadway shows. I’ve been happily married to my husband, Justin, for 15 years, and together we have three amazing kids, Jameson (13), Addison (11), and Mason (9), along with our loyal German Shepherd, Teddy, who definitely keep life entertaining around our house!
*Fun Fact: Before I was a teacher, my passion was dance. I have over 25 years of dance training and spent most of my childhood on stage performing in ballets and musical theater!

My teaching philosophy centers on creating a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment where every student feels valued, challenged, and inspired to learn. I believe that the best learning happens when students actively explore the world around them through hands-on experiences, inquiry, collaboration, and meaningful discussion.
In U.S. History, I strive to bring the past to life by helping students connect with the people, events, and ideas that have shaped our nation. I encourage students to think critically, analyze multiple perspectives, and understand how history influences the world they live in today.
In Science, I foster curiosity and discovery by encouraging students to ask questions, investigate problems, and develop a deeper understanding of the natural world. Through experiments, observations, and real-world connections, students learn that science is not just a subject—it is a way of thinking.
My goal is for every student to leave my classroom with greater confidence, stronger critical-thinking skills, and a genuine excitement for learning. I want them to see themselves as historians, scientists, and informed citizens who are prepared to explore, question, and positively impact the world around them.
