About me

I have been a Special Education teacher for 13 years, and this is my 2nd year at Argyle High School. I have a passion for serving teens in an Academic Life Skills setting. My focus is helping teens and young adults be successful as they transition to life beyond high school. I work closely with Transition staff, help provide work based learning opportunities, and advocate for my student's needs. I value parent input and know how important it is to have a school and home connection. I love what I do and want the best for my students! 

Academic Life Skills- Our Focus

• Functional academics and Life Skills: real-world activities/lessons such as Money skills, budgeting, comprehension, using technology in a mature and professional manner, initiating and completing job tasks and checklists, safety awareness, community navigation skills, appropriate coping skills and social behavior, etc...

• In class support as needed for electives to foster independence at school

• Practice vocational and independent living skills: Work based Learning and Community Based Instructional opportunities, Daily Living skills, Self-Advocacy, Time Mgmt, following schedules, etc..

• Collaborate with Transition staff for life beyond high school: explore career interests, post-secondary options and goals, provide support and information for family decisions about services through Adult agencies, VAT class sponsored by TX-Workforce.
