Explicit, Systematic Instruction
Phonics Audio Guide for Parents
If kiddos learn early on (K-2) what sounds each letter or combination of letters makes, it helps them improve their reading, listening, and speaking skills. Emergent bilinguals benefit from explicit, systematic instruction in phonemic awareness and phonics for English reading to help them decode. Phonics instruction teaches kiddos the relationships between the letters (graphemes) of written language and the individual sounds (phonemes) of spoken language. It teaches kiddos to use these relationships to read and write words.
Click on a letter tile to hear the sound of each ENGLISH alphabet letter. Vowels are a, e, i, o, u and sometimes y.
All the other letters are consonants.
