WHAT IS GUIDANCE?
Has your child ever come home and said, "I went/saw the counselor today!" Don't worry—that's one of the best parts of my job!
Every student at Argyle West participates in classroom guidance lessons throughout the school year. These engaging, age-appropriate lessons help students develop the social, emotional, and life skills they need to be successful both in and out of the classroom.
Some of the topics we cover include:
Kindness & Anti-Bullying
Friendship & Social Skills
Conflict Resolution
Safety & Responsible Decision-Making
Emotional Regulation & Coping Skills
Growth Mindset & Goal Setting
College & Career Awareness
These lessons are taught in the classroom and are educational in nature—they are not therapy. Classroom guidance allows me to build relationships with every student, support a positive school climate, and teach important life skills that help students thrive.
