Into the Woods, Jr. Audition Information and Procedures
Auditions will be held on Wednesday through Friday, August 28-30th from 4:15 - 5:45 p.m. Callbacks will be held on Tuesday, September 3rd and Wednesday, September 4th from 4:00 - 5:30 p.m.
The cast list will be posted online no later than Saturday, September 6th at 6pm.
For your initial audition, please prepare one piece of the pre-selected music from Into the Woods, Jr. Below you will find the .mp3 files and pdfs of selected pieces for auditioning. You will only be singing one piece in your initial audition, but we suggest being familiar with the other pieces, should we need to see those in callbacks.
Auditions forms will be available in the the Black Box (Room 616). You will need to choose which day you will be auditioning and sign up for a time slot. The sign up sheet will be found on the table to the right when you walk in.
You will be auditioning in groups of 5. You will need to slate before your audition (just your name, and what piece you will be singing). At that point we will begin your personal audition with the instrumental backtrack to the song of your choice. Then the next person will go through the same process- slate & sing. Once everyone in your group has sung, you will then do the dance combination as a group- once as a practice, and then for real. At the completion of your dance audition you are free to go! A video of the dance combination is also posted below in steps to help you learn it.
We encourage you to select the piece that best showcases your voice and we would love for it to be memorized, which allows you the ability to move about the space during the audition. You will not be penalized, however, if you choose to use your sheet music. Set yourself apart and bring something new and interesting to your audition. Choose your piece wisely. If your first choice is Cinderella, be sure to sing us On the Steps of the Place since it's one of the options! If your character of choice does not have a song within our audition selections, then choose the song that you feel best suits your voice.
Those interested in being a part of tech/backstage crew will still go through the standard audition process. There is a place on the audition form to note that you are willing to be a part of tech (if not cast) OR that you want to be considered ONLY for tech. If you indicate "Tech Only", the process is the same, we just know that we're not considering you for a part on stage. Please know that indicating "tech only" does not ensure you a spot on crew.
