My name is Ashleigh Stanbarger and I will be a Teacher Resident this year while being a senior at the University of North Texas. I am pursing a Bachelors of Science in Elementary Education as well as a Special Education certification. I am so excited to be at Argyle West this year with Ms. Gentry!
I am from a military family and have been to various schools across the country where many teachers made me feel seen and safe, inspiring my love for education. I have always loved helping others, and my ultimate goal is to provide a safe environment for students. An environment where students feel supported, challenged, and excited to learn.

What does "resident teacher" mean?
My role is similar to that of a student teacher as I am still attending college. My role differs from that of a student teacher as I am working towards an enhanced teacher certification. Along with being held to higher expectations, I will be taking on more of a teaching role as compared to a traditional student teacher.
This year, I will be with Ms. Gentry teaching math and supporting other math classrooms. I will also be working with, and learning from, the other resource/inclusion teachers.
