STEAM Camp: Session 1 (AM)
We will explore with the Makey Makey circuits. Your child will use a circuit board, alligator clips, and a USB cable, to create a closed loop electrical signal to send the computer either a keyboard stroke or mouse click signal. We will play music and video games by touching play-doh, aluminum foil, pencil markings, and other conductors instead of the arrows on the keyboard.
We will use hammers and nails to create a woodwork project from the Lowe's Build & Grow kits. Your child will have a choice of two items that you will choose on the registration page (bird feeder or bird house). We will supply aprons, paint, and paint brushes for your child to paint their project when finished.
We will create our own Shrinky Dink designs.
Your child will be provided with a morning snack.
Vex Robotics Camp: Session 1:(PM)
The Vex IQ robotics kit has plastic, snap-together pieces specifically designed to build a functional robot with motors and a brain. No prior knowledge in robotics is necessary.
In Session 1 we will build Vex Robot Slick to play Robot Soccer. Students will use a controller to maneuver the robot. We will then learn basic drag and drop block coding features to program the robot and make it autonomous. Students will get time to free build and add additonal parts for a Battle Bots challenge.
Your child will be provided with an afternoon snack.
STEAM Camp: Session 2 (AM)
We will explore with Lego Education Spike Prime. It combines colorful LEGO building elements, easy-to-use hardware and intuitive block coding with STEAM learning units that engage students of all levels. We will build a break dancer bot and program it to dance to beats. Students will work with basic drag and drop block coding.
We will use hammers and nails to create a woodwork project from the Lowe's Build & Grow kits. Your child will have a choice of two items that you will choose on the registration page (pirate ship or race car). We will supply aprons, paint, and paint brushes for your child to paint their project when finished.
We will create exploding paint capsules to make our own splatter art.
Your child will be provided a morning snack.
Vex Robotics Camp: Session 2 (PM)
The Vex IQ robotics kit has plastic, snap-together pieces specifically designed to build a functional robot with motors and a brain. No prior knowledge in robotics is necessary.
In Session 2 we will build the SumoBot. We will play with the controller and also learn how to program the robot to run a code to play a tournament without the controller.
Your child will be provided an afternoon snack.
