A Spotlight on Landon Blankemeyer
By Mason Rowley (Sussex)
Some people believe that just because you come to Appomattox Regional Governor’s School for something, you are locked into it for life. Landon Blankemeyer, a former tech major and current auto technician who repairs and sells cars, shows that that’s not true. He didn’t stick to his focus area while at ARGS, saying, “I dabbled in basically everything while there. It wasn't uncommon to see me with a camera in my hands.”
After ARGS, he went for the more unconventional route of going to a trade school. He personally thinks that, “College isn't for everyone and there are plenty of opportunities in the trade fields, many of which will pay for your education you need to excel!” ARGS helped him with this decision in the long run, as he says that his most useful classes here were industrial design and engineering.
He misses the faculty and students the most about ARGS. Moving from his home county was “a big change from what I was used to with normal Chesterfield schools but in a good way,” but he says that ARGS allowed him to be himself. He leaves us with these parting words: “Don't chase money, it's not worth making more money to hate your job.”
