Founded in 2014 as a non-profit, Urban Foxes strives for healthy, sustainable, inclusive and co-created cities. Urban Foxes believe that young people should be included (more) in decision making processes that affect them. And are convinced that non-formal education has the power to not only inform young people on sustainability and urban matters but also to include them in the larger scheme of the city making process. These two aforementioned reasons have become the Urban Foxes’ driving forces to become experts in the field of urban youth participation, urban human rights, public space, youth activism and sustainability education. Youth work plays an important role in Urban Foxes' mission as one can not start soon enough to involve young people in their local communities and in the matters of city making (policy, informing about urban issues).
The last years Urban Foxes has been active in several projects regarding youth participation, higher education internships, heritage and (urban) human rights such as clean air & water, co-creating high-quality (public) spaces, playfulness, sustainability, creative talent-development, community-building, co-creation of non-formal learning methods, social cohesion & inclusion. Through youth work, non-formal education and the facilitation & creation of participatory processes and interventions on different levels (local, regional, national and European) Urban Foxes has been working intensively to fulfil a mission: improve urban wellbeing and co-create liveable cities by involving often forgotten stakeholders such as newcomers, homeless people and youth. Besides a wide range of EU projects, UF has been involved in a variety of local and international grassroots movements & social and environmental citizens' initiatives.
