The Field

The field is in a diamond shape, and there are 4 bases, first base, second base, third base, and home plate. There is one more but, it is not a base. It is the pitcher mound where the pitcher pitches the baseball. There are two foul lines, and two foul poles, so you can tell if the ball goes foul. The field in the infield, is usually grass except there is sand in the baselines, pitcher mound and home plate. All of the outfield is grass and the warning track, is the part in the outfield that is close to the wall. They make the warning track dirt so that when outfielders are chasing down a ball, they can tell if they are getting close to the wall.

In Queens, NY, that is where is the New York Mets play. When the Mets hit a home run there is a big apple that pops out in the stands near right field. Fun fact, the apple is called the home run apple. In addition to all this, the apple is 18 feet (5.5 m) tall, and 16 feet (4.9 m) wide.
