ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS

To be accepted into Arden Sixth Form, students must have achieved:

• Grade 5-9 in English Language and Mathematics PLUS three other GCSE subjects at grade 5 or above

In addition to these general requirements, each subject has specific entrance requirements which need to be met / exceeded in order to be enrolled onto the course. The subject requirements are as follows:

• Art: Art GCSE Grade 6 / Art & Design BTEC Level 2 Distinction

• Biology: Biology GCSE Grade 6 PLUS one other Science GCSE Grade 6 / Combined Science GCSE Grade 6-6 PLUS Mathematics GCSE Grade 6

• Business: Business GCSE Grade 6 / Cambridge National Enterprise & Marketing Level 2 Distinction OR English Language GCSE Grade 6 if not previously studied 

• Chemistry: Chemistry GCSE Grade 6 PLUS one other Science GCSE Grade 6 / Combined Science GCSE Grade 6-6 PLUS Mathematics GCSE Grade 6

• Computer Science: Computer Science GCSE Grade 6

• Core Maths: Mathematics GCSE Grade 5 

• Drama & Theatre Studies: Drama GCSE Grade 6 / Performing Arts BTEC Level 2 Distinction OR Evidence of subject ability if not previously studied (applicant to provide) 

• Economics: Mathematics GCSE Grade 6 PLUS English Language GCSE Grade 6

• English Language & Literature: English Language GCSE Grade 6

• English Literature: English Literature GCSE Grade 6

• French: French GCSE Grade 6

• Further Mathematics: Mathematics GCSE Grade 7

• Geography: Geography GCSE Grade 6

• German: German GCSE Grade 6

• History: History GCSE Grade 6

• Mathematics: Mathematics GCSE Grade 6

• Media Studies: Media Studies GCSE Grade 6 OR English Language GCSE Grade 5 if not previously studied

• Music: Music GCSE Grade 6 / Music Technology NCFE Level 2 Distinction PLUS Grade 6 in an instrument (may include voice) OR Evidence of subject ability if not previously studied (applicant to provide)

• Photography: Photography GCSE Grade 6 OR Art GCSE Grade 6 / Art & Design BTEC Level 2 Distinction OR Media GCSE Grade 6 OR Creative iMedia Level 2 Distinction (known at Arden as Creative Technologies)

• Physical Education: One Triple Science GCSE Grade 6 / Combined Science GCSE 6-6 PLUS Physical Education GCSE Grade 6 (if previously studied) 

• Physics: Physics GCSE Grade 6 PLUS one other Science GCSE Grade 6 / Combined Science GCSE Grade 6-6 PLUS Mathematics GCSE Grade 6

• Politics: English Language GCSE Grade 5

• Product Design: Design & Technology GCSE Grade 6 / Engineering Cambridge National/BTEC  Level 2 Distinction OR Other Design / Creative related GCSE Grade 6  if not previously studied 

• Psychology: English Language GCSE Grade 5 PLUS Mathematics GCSE Grade 5 

• Religious Studies: Religious Studies GCSE Grade 6 OR English Language GCSE Grade 5 if not previously studied 

• Sociology: English Language GCSE Grade 5
