Empowering Hispanic Futures Through Catholic Education Scholarships
OUR STORY
In August 2006, Padre Vicente offered to help a Hispanic mother to send her second grade son, Brian, to St. Barnabas. As other mothers sought his help, although out of money, he always answered YES!
Soon, he was helping 15 children. He then realized that he could not send them back to public high school, but had to help them until they graduated from high school. At that moment, the Spanish Scholarship Fund was born.
Since that beginning in 2006, a small group has helped hundreds of Hispanic children receive an excellent Catholic education. The children, the families, and the schools have all benefitted from this scholarship fund.
Currently, the need and the growth is rapid. The overwhelming statistics tell the story. There are 5,000 Hispanic students in our Catholic schools, however, 85% of Hispanic children attending Mass on Sunday are NOT in Catholic school. There are at least 85,000 Hispanic students in public schools in the Philadelphia area. We want to be able to offer every Hispanic child a Catholic Education at an affordable price.
WE NEED YOUR HELP!
