All course descriptions can be found on the Archmere Academy website under Curriculum in the Academics tab. Please review these course descriptions since many of our courses have prerequisites.
Students are required to earn a minimum of one elective credit each year; however, students with three AP classes are exempt from this requirement.
AP Seminar is the first year and AP Research is the second in the two-year AP Capstone program: Students are not required to enroll in AP Research after completing AP Seminar; however, AP Seminar is a prerequisite for AP Research.
Courses in bold italics are new, reactivated, or renamed offerings for the 2024-25 school year.
Faith in History is a core class offered jointly by the History and Theology departments. Scheduling priority will go to students who request the course as a required Theology credit.
With the exception of its AP offerings, all Art & Design classes count as electives, not core classes.
The Music department’s A History of the Broadway Musical, Music in Film, and Digital Audio Production count as core (academic) classes.
Any elective or core course taken above the six required semester core classes counts as a required elective credit.
With the exception of Health 9 and 10, a student earns one credit for the successful completion of one semester of any course.
Over the course of four years, students must earn 54 credits to graduate:
48 core credits
4 elective credits
2 health credits
