Vision Training 2017-2018

Arch Ford and the UCA STEM Institute are teaming up to provide your Mathematics Leadership Team (MLT) with a three-part training on creating and activating a district-wide mathematics vision. The MLT should include administrators, curriculum and instructional facilitators, and lead K-12 math teachers. Each team will receive one copy of Principles to Action: Ensuring Mathematical Success for All.

Part 1 (Sept 19th) will focus on looking at the keys to an effective math classroom, analyzing data from your math program audit, and crafting a vision statement for your district.

Part 2 (Nov. 14th) will dive deeper into the vision process by looking at measures of success, creating leaders within your schools, and choosing worthwhile professional learning to support your teachers in activating the vision.

Part 3 (Jan. 30th) gets to the heart of your vision with ideas to support teacher collaboration, methods to create and implement well designed curriculum and assessments, and effective monitoring tools focused on consistent expectations for exemplary instruction.

It is our plan to provide follow up support for activating your vision. Research has shown that long-term sustained support is more effective in successful implementation than short or one time professional learning opportunities. We are excited to help you create your vision and look forward to working with your Mathematics Leadership Team.
