Travel and arrival in Paris

LAX to CDG

We arrived at LAX at 1:45 Pacific time and parents took many photos of us. We were sad to see our parents go and there were many tears but at the same we were soooooo excited to arrive in Paris.

The flight was pretty rough as we did not sleep very well. Other than that, the food was delectable. We had chicken and rice for dinner and an egg sandwich and fruit salad for breakfast. All of the flight attendants were super nice and they helped us with our French.

Paris bike tour

The bike ride through the city was so beautiful and included the Pompidou Center, Notre Dame, l'Hôtel de Ville, the banks of the Seine, Roman ruins and more. We got to see locals in their natural habitat and many performances such as a roller blading performance and a singing performance. The bike-tour guide was so nice and told us all about the history of Paris.

Public transportation was also a highlight from today (see slide show below), as we got to experience what it is like to live as a true Parisian. The quiet Sunday stations made it easy to practice our social etiquette skills in a public surrounding, and gave us the opportunity to familiarize ourselves with the metro.

Dinner and hotel

For dinner, we had an amazing three course meal in a quaint restaurant near our hotel. We started with a light salad topped with some carrots, tuna, and vinaigrette dressing. Next, we moved onto our main course: alfredo mushroom spaghetti and grilled chicken breast. Finally, we ended off with chocolate mousse for dessert. At the end, we got a little visit from a rooftop cat and it made our first day in Paris complete.
