In Archbold, we believe in fostering a vibrant community where athletic excellence and team spirit thrive. The Bluestreak Athletic Complex will be a cornerstone of this vision, providing a state-of-the-art facility that nurtures the physical, mental, and social growth of our students. It will stand as a symbol of unity and inspiration, not just for our athletes, but for every member of our community. Here, every practice, every game, and every gathering brings us closer, building a legacy of health, learning, and unity for generations to come.

SOLVE SPACE CONSTRAINTS
Eliminates space and resource constraints for baseball/softball, wrestling, golf, weight training, marching band, and others.
TRAIN SAFELY
Enables safe conditioning, with appropriate space barriers for weightlifting and use of modern and safe equipment.
WHY DO WE NEED THE BLUESTREAK ATHLETIC COMPLEX
01. Need for Multi-Purpose Indoor Space
During inclement weather, Archbold does not have enough indoor space to meet the needs of its students.
Practices and even outside recess time for elementary students are often cancelled. Team practices are regularly scheduled for late evenings.
Many of the athletic teams use makeshift, unsanctioned spaces such as academic buildings, hallways, parking lots, or even non-school facilities that charge our students a fee.
When not in use, it will also benefit the broader community by providing space for various recreational activities like walking and jogging.
02. Growing Athletic Participation
Women’s wrestling is sharing mat space, which was already at capacity, with the men’s growing program.
Our current weight room, a total of 1,200 square feet, was built in 1992. This is not adequate space for our growing teams or for lifting safely.
Athletes must come in at staggered hours to get access to the limited weight facilities; some teams do not have the opportunity to use the facility.
Advanced Fitness physical education must limit participation.
Much of the weight equipment is outdated, as much as 20 years old.
Golf simulators are not available to students who participate in the men’s and women’s golf programs, which have grown significantly in the last few years. Students are currently using external facilities.
Batting cages for baseball and softball are scattered in both school and non-school buildings throughout the community.
WHO IS LEADING THE PROJECT:
The Bluestreak Athletic Complex team includes district, community, and various organization members.
Over the past several years, a variety of organizations have discussed a number of potential projects to support student athletes. Upon reflection, it became clear that it was in the best interest of our students and our community for our organizations to collaborate on a multi-purpose Bluestreak Athletic Complex located on school grounds.
Board members include: Doug Krauss (Chairperson), Greg Bowman, Dan Benecke, Jeff Coressel, David Dominique, Allan Gladieux, Keith Kern, Kevin Morton, Billy Rufenacht, Jayson Selgo, Garrett Tinsman, & Jim Wyse.
