Bring Four Years of Coursework and Personal Experiences Together

The Senior Capstone Project serves as a culmination of a student's academic journey by providing them with a unique opportunity to combine their years of coursework, academic and personal experiences, and interest of study into an extended project. In the field of sport management, this year's capstone projects delve into various topical areas, ranging from the NBA game prediction to the impact of nationality and age on the marathon race outcome. Each project demonstrates the students' proficiency in research, problem-solving skills, and data analysis skills. Their presentations and study abstracts are accessible below, showcasing the diverse and insightful perspectives they bring to the world of sport management. These projects not only enhance the students' professional development but also contribute to the growth of the field as a whole.

Scarlett Glasser-Nehls is a senior at Arcadia University pursuing Bachelor of Arts degrees in Sport Management and Business Administration. Scarlett is a 4-year member of the Arcadia Women’s Basketball team, a member of Delta Mu Delta, the business honor society, and the recipient of the Business Administration Distinguished Achievement Award. She has also represented Arcadia Athletics as a representative on the Student Athlete Advisory Committee at the MAC Conference for 3 years. This transitioned into an executive board position with Arcadia SAAC her senior year. Following her sophomore year, Scarlett worked as an event manager and media operations intern at NLV Productions. During her junior year, Scarlett worked for the Arcadia Baseball team as a student manager and following this experience she interned as a Ticket Sales and Data Analytics intern with the Jersey Shore BlueClaws. Scarlett is currently interning with The Game Haus as a sports journalist specializing on articles surrounding the WNBA. These experiences have helped her develop a great work-ethic, leadership and communication skills. Upon graduation Scarlett will be attending Arcadia University to pursue her Masters of Business Administration.

Jordan Washington is a senior at Arcadia University who studies pursuing a degree in Sport Management. Jordan has been an equipment manager for Arcadia’s Volleyball team in all 4 years of his time at Arcadia and has multiple internship experiences being a head coach for high school volleyball 3 years and training as an equipment manager at UPenn durings the summers during his time at Arcadia. These experiences have developed Jordan in multiple areas of leadership in sports, planning in sports, and management at a high level. Jordan has developed these skills because he desires to one day work in a field of sports where he is valued and can make a positive impact on any program that needs someone to make a difference.

Caroline Weirich is a senior at Arcadia University pursuing a major in Sport Management and a minor in Business Administration. Caroline is a 4-year member and 2-year captain of Arcadia’s Women’s Soccer team, Co-President of the Sport Management Club, Vice President of The Hidden Opponent (THO), Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) Social Media Coordinator, student worker for the Sports Information Directors, and more. Caroline has had a variety of internship experiences throughout her college career. She started as a Seasonal Ticketing Intern with the Lehigh Valley IronPigs, Triple AAA affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies, where she was able to gain knowledge on many aspects of ticket sales and other front office departments. She has also interned at the University of Pennsylvania with their Men’s and Women’s Squash teams as a Social Media Coordinator. Caroline has now been working with the Philadelphia Phillies as a Ticket Services Representative since January of 2023 and plans to continue in this position through 2024 as she comes back to Arcadia for an extra semester of study and to play her fifth year of eligibility in soccer. All of these experiences have helped Caroline develop her leadership skills, hard work ethic, management skills, and more that will help her pursue her career aspirations of working in professional sports.

Brady Wied is a senior at Arcadia University from Bethlehem, PA, pursuing a double major in Sport Management and Business Administration. With academics, Brady was also a member of the Arcadia Men’s Lacrosse team for 3 years. Brady has interned for reLax Sports. reLax Sports is a recent startup lacrosse league in his hometown area, working with his former high school head lacrosse coach on it. While interning, Brady was able to gain knowledge on the ins and outs of sports business. He oversaw operations, event promotion, event management and ran the social media. Brady has also volunteered during his time to coaching youth lacrosse and working lacrosse tournaments for Victory. These experiences have given him a development of communication and management skills that will help him pursue his future endeavors in the sports world.
