Dear Whānau,
First of all, thank you for your patience while we finalized the logistics for this year’s trip. We know the anticipation has been building at home, and we can certainly feel it in the classroom! The students are incredibly excited and simply can’t wait for their big adventure away.
Below you will find all the key details for our upcoming trip to Living Springs.
Dates: Wednesday, 11th March – Friday, 13th March
Arrival: Students must be in the school hall by 8:30 AM on Wednesday.
Departure: The bus departs promptly at 9:15 AM.
Activity 1: We will be dropped off at Governors Bay for a scenic walk into the camp.
Return: We expect to be back at Ararira Springs Primary by 3:00 PM on Friday. If we are running late, we will notify the school office to send out an update.
Cost: The cost for camp this year is $280. This covers buses to and from Living Springs, accommodation, food, and activities
Payments for camp can be made in installments on Kindo.
If you have any financial questions or concerns please come and see Trine in the school office
We have a dedicated staff team leading the way this year:
Matua Michael: Camp Lead
Matua Dan: Camp Nurse & Medical Lead
Whaea Leonie: Activity Groups & Bunk Room Coordinator
Whaea Claire: Joining the team on Wednesday and part of Thursday.
We are also very lucky to have a fantastic group of Parent Helpers joining us:
Anna Milne (Oliver), Mike Kingston (Sam & Alice), Erin Pierce (George), Martin Fox (Sasha), Simon Kelly (Oscar), Scott Ball (Jacob), Joanna Beck (Rose), Jenny Smith (Harper), and Bjorn Horrack (Nico).
Big thank you to our school THT for sponsoring the cost of our parents giving up their time to attend camp, this keeps the cost down for all families
Health & Gear
Day Pack: On Wednesday, please ensure your child has a day pack (separate from their main bag) containing morning tea, lunch, and a full drink bottle, warm jersey, beanie, and waterproof jacket.
Gear List: Please double-check the attached gear list to ensure your child has all the necessary clothing and equipment for a comfortable stay. If there is anything on the list that you do not have, please reach out to us, as we may be able to source it from our wonderful community.
Medication: All medication must be placed in a clear, named bag. Please have a list of the medications, dosage/s and times to be taken, either written on the bag itself or written on paper and placed in the bag and handed directly to Matua Dan in Pūrei 2.
Note: You can begin dropping medication off to him from Wednesday 4th of March. Please try to do this by Tuesday 10th of March, to help him get organised.
If you would like to come out for a day visit, please email Matua Michael at michael.mcdermott@ararira.school.nz.
Please be aware that if visitor numbers become too high, we may need to split visiting times. We ask that all visitors strictly follow the designated arrival/departure rules to ensure the camp program runs smoothly.
We are looking forward to an unforgettable experience with our Year 6 students!
Best regards,
The Year 6 Teaching Team: Michael, Leonie & Dan
