Fluency 

This is the ability to read with speed, accuracy, and proper expression.  When students are able to read fluently, their brains have more space to comprehend the message of the text.

Students who read fluently can:

• automatically recognize words

• accurately recognize words

• chunk sentences into meaningful phrases

• remember and understand what they have read
