The Azusa Pacific School of Nursing encompasses a full spectrum of undergraduate and graduate programs that prepare nursing scholars for a lifetime of intellectual inquiry. With an APU nursing degree, graduates enter the health care field with a solid foundation in research, theory, clinical skills, and hands-on community service, setting them apart as leaders in their profession qualified to change the face of health care delivery. From bachelor’s, master’s degrees, and post-master’s credentials to personalized programs such as the LVN to RN, and the Entry-level Master’s (ELM) Program, to the Doctor of Nursing Practice and the PhD in Nursing, APU's nursing school leads the way in solving for the nation’s nurse shortage by educating top nursing professionals and educators at every level.

The School of Nursing History Timeline
1975 - Undergraduate Baccalaureate Nursing Program inaugurated.
1977- First graduating class of twenty-four undergraduate students completed Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree.
1983 - Master of Science in Nursing Program was inaugurated.
1987- Della Blackburn, RN, PhD, was appointed dean of the School of Nursing.
1988 - Iota Sigma Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International was established at APU.
1991- Rose Liegler, RN, PhD, was appointed dean of the School of Nursing.
1992 - Nursing students and faculty members participated in a medical missions trip to Guatemala.
1993 - Eight School of Nursing faculty presented APU nursing curriculum to Russian nurse educators in Golitsino, Russia, at a three-week conference: New Nurses for a New Russia. These faculty wrote Russia’s first Pediatric/Maternal Child and Medical/Surgical textbooks.
1999 - School of Nursing celebrates its 25th anniversary.
2004 - Second Career and Nursing Program initiated, which was first of its kind in L.A. County.
2005 - Aja Lesh, PhD, appointed as dean.
