You will need to know your California State Assembly and State Senate Districts (links to find your representatives are provided during registration). If your specific Assembly Member or Senator's appointments are already full, feel free to select any available legislative appointment if you would still like the experience of meeting with a lawmaker or their staff.

Book Lodging: Secure a downtown Sacramento hotel (near the convention center) or an Airbnb as soon as possible.
Plan Transportation: Coordinate your travel, whether driving/carpooling or booking a flight.

Sunday, April 12: Training Day
Attire: Wear your APU T-shirt so our cohort can be easily identified!
Arrival: MSWSA Student Liaisons will meet at 7:30 AM to reserve tables so that APU students can sit together. Please plan to arrive by 8:30 AM (Opening Remarks begin at 9:00 AM).
Your Team: You will receive your specific legislative appointment time and meet your legislative team during the afternoon session.
Monday, April 13: Legislative Appointments
Attire: Professional Business Attire. You are representing APU and the social work profession.
The Rally: Join the statewide delegation for the 11:00 AM Rally on the Capitol steps, provided it does not conflict with your scheduled appointment.
Departure: You may leave once your final legislative appointment is concluded. Please note that some appointments may be scheduled as late as 4:00 PM, so plan your travel accordingly.
Team Leader: Receive specialized training to lead a small group during Monday’s appointments. Benefits include a $30 registration discount and 8 CEUs for your resume. Requires a training dinner on Saturday evening, April 11.
Event Volunteer: Assist with Sunday logistics at the Convention Center. Volunteers receive a $30 registration discount and great networking opportunities with NASW-CA leadership. Requires a training dinner on Saturday evening, April 11.
January 31, 2026 – APU Priority Registration Deadline: Aim to register by this date to secure your Legislative Appointment. These appointments are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis.
February 23, 2026 – Early Bird Deadline: This is the final day to register at the discounted rate and save $15–$20 on your registration fee.
March 16, 2026 – Final Registration Deadline: This is the last day to sign up. Please note that there is no onsite registration, and the event often sells out before this date!
OPTIONAL: Saturday, April 11, 2026 – Required Team Leader Training and Dinner; 23Strong Student Mixer (Evening).
Sunday, April 12, 2026 – Legislative Training at the SAFE Credit Union Convention Center. (Don't forget to wear your APU T-shirt!)
Monday, April 13, 2026 – Legislative Appointments at the State Capitol and the 11:00 AM Rally. (Professional attire required.)
