Welcome Remarks
Jacob Oliva is the Secretary of the Arkansas Department of Education and Commissioner of ADE Division of Elementary and Secondary Education. Prior to being named secretary and commissioner, Oliva served in numerous senior leadership roles at the Florida Department of Education, including interim commissioner. In this role, he supported more than 2.8 million students in approximately 3,600 Florida public schools.
Lunch Keynote
Gerard Robinson is a former Secretary of Education in Virginia and Florida Education Commissioner. He is a school choice proponent and former president of the Black Alliance for Educational Options. Robinson is a Professor of Practice in Public Policy and Law at UVA’s Frank Batten School of Leadership and Public Policy and has a joint appointment at UVA Law School. His areas of expertise are K-12 and higher education, criminal justice reform, race in American institutions and the role of nonprofit organizations in civil society.
