Hello Sarah Smith Families,
Welcome back to another exciting year at Sarah Smith where learning meets fun and every child’s potential shines bright! 🌟
This year, we’re excited to offer resource services for our gifted students! Along with this, Sarah Smith is introducing three gifted leads to provide even more support and enrichment throughout the school.
Our “Resource” students will have dedicated G.A.T.E. days once a week, where they spend a full day with a gifted lead focusing on developing key skills like creativity, critical thinking, advanced research, communication, global citizenship, and more! 🎨🧠🌍
Important Information:
Students will engage in interdisciplinary units designed to enhance gifted skills and promote academic growth throughout the year.
Gifted services will officially begin the week of August 18th—we’re excited for this fresh start!
See the schedule below to know which day your student will attend G.A.T.E. each week.

The Georgia State Board of Education defines a gifted student as “...a student who demonstrates a high degree of intellectual, and/or creative ability(ies), exhibits an exceptionally high degree of motivation, and/or excels in specific academic fields, and who needs special instruction and/or special ancillary services to achieve at levels commensurate with his or her abilities.”
Atlanta Public Schools provide services for identified gifted students at all levels. The gifted program is designed to meet the very specific needs of these students and extend competencies in the areas of cognitive skills, learning skills, research and reference skills, communication skills, and metacognitive skills beyond the experience of the regular classroom.
