Mia is a dedicated alumna of North Atlanta High School and a proud product of Atlanta Public Schools (APS), has distinguished herself in the field of educational psychology with her unwavering commitment and passion. Her career, now spanning 11 years as a school psychologist, is preceded by six years of valuable experience as a high school math teacher at the Georgia Network for Educational and Therapeutic Support (GNETS), where she honed her skills in addressing the educational needs of students with emotional and behavioral disorders.

After receiving an undergraduate degree from Syracuse University and completing her graduate education at Georgia State University, Mia transitioned from teaching to school psychology, bringing a unique perspective to her role. In her current position, she has been instrumental in leading the Early Career and Mentorship Program, guiding newer psychologists through the formative stages of their careers, and ensuring continued excellence in APS's psychological services.

Mia's expertise is particularly notable in the areas of severe emotional behavior disorders and suicide prevention. Her approach to these sensitive and critical areas of school psychology has made a significant impact on the students and the broader APS community.

Beyond her professional achievements, Mia is known for her nurturing demeanor, which has earned her the affectionate title of 'Department Mom' from her colleagues. This title reflects her caring and supportive nature, which has been a source of comfort and guidance for many within the department. Her sense of style also stands out, earning her the title of 'Trendsetter.'

An active member of the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP), Mia stays abreast of the latest developments in her field, ensuring her approaches and methods are informed by current research and best practices.

In her personal life, Mia's interests are as diverse as her professional skills. A creative at heart, she enjoys drawing, writing poetry, and sewing, hobbies that allows her to express her artistic side. Her hands-on skills extend to building furniture and undertaking home renovations, activities that showcase her practical and resourceful nature. These hobbies, along with her love for playing sports with her children, reflect a balanced lifestyle that blends intellectual pursuits with physical and creative activities.
