Welcome to GATE!  My name is Michell Carter and this is my seventh year at MLES.  This year, I am serving as the Team Lead for GATE. I work with the second and fourth grade gifted students. 

During my 23 years of teaching, I have worked in general education and 16 of those years in gifted and talented education.  My experience is in kindergarten, third grade, and fourth grade. Paul Torrence sums up my teaching philosophy beautifully, "Teach children how to think, not what to think" so that they are successful in their own lives.
