The Media Center
Mission
The mission of our media center is to be a place where the love of reading prospers in the hands of our students through creativity, inquiry, and collaboration.
Vision
Our vision is to:
Implement an instructional program emphasizing information literacy skills integrated with the content curriculum.
Provide a learning hub for students and staff to develop skills using, implementing, and producing media in various formats.
Provide a welcoming atmosphere conducive to learning for all users.
Policies
Book Checkout:
Students in grades 1 through 5 can check out two books at a time. The students must choose one book that is on grade level and one book that is read for enjoyment.
Kindergarten students can check out one book at a time, but the books are to remain in the classrooms.
Library Visits:
Every class can visit the library weekly for 30 minutes. Students may check out books, have research time, participate in literature lessons, and enjoy read-aloud during that time.
Reading Can Take You Places!
Children's Book Festival
Thanks to our Media Services Department, some of our top readers were able to attend the Children’s Book Festival. At the Children’s Book Festival, the students engaged in story time with author Eric Litwin, the author of the Pete the Cat series.
Buzzer Reader Field Trip
Thanks to the Georgia Tech Women’s Basketball team, our students participated in the annual “Buzzer Readers” reading program. Buzzer Readers is an initiative to promote and encourage children to learn through reading. The students track their reading through Beanstack and compete in school and district-wide challenges. We selected 50 students to attend the season opener for the team on November 6th, 2023.
