Participation on the Volcano Vista Swim & Dive Team is both a privilege and a responsibility. Athletes are expected to represent the program with integrity, commitment, respect, and dedication at all times. Failure to meet these expectations may result in suspension or removal from the team.
Volcano Vista Swim & Dive is open to students in good academic standing. Athletes are expected to maintain strong grades, responsible study habits, effective time management, and regular school attendance.
Grade checks will be conducted throughout the season.
Failure to meet academic expectations may result in suspension or dismissal.
Excessive absences from school or practice may result in dismissal.
A current APS Athletic Physical must be on file prior to the first day of practice.
Athletes may not participate in any practice or competition until a physical is submitted.
Families are encouraged to schedule doctor appointments early to avoid delays.
DragonFly profiles must be completed before the first meet. Instructions on DragonFly are on the home page.
Swimsuit

Training equipment and team uniforms (parka & pants) are provided.
A required team swimsuit will be available for purchase at the beginning of the season.
$150 per athlete; please pay promptly
Covers assistant coaches, team shirts, team caps, equipment, and end-of-season awards
Team swimsuit is not included and must be purchased separately
Practices are held 5 days per week at West Mesa Aquatic Center.
Practice times will be announced in the fall.
Club swimmers must attend at least two high school practices per week and club practice on other days.
Athletes are responsible for their own transportation.
Carpooling is encouraged.
Tryouts take place within the first two weeks of the season.
The season officially begins November 3rd.
Team size is capped at approximately 45 swimmers, including club athletes.
Swimmers must be able to perform or be actively learning all four strokes:
Freestyle
Backstroke
Breaststroke
Butterfly
Meets are held on Saturday mornings. With an occasionally Wednesday/Friday meet.
All athletes are required to attend every meet, regardless of event entry.
Event and relay participation is determined by the coaching staff.
Club swimmers are limited to 10 total meets during the high school season beginning November 1st.
To be eligible for the State Championship Meet, athletes must compete in a minimum of six high school meets during the season, even if they have already achieved a qualifying time.
Athletes who do not meet this requirement will not be eligible for State competition.
Swimming is a team sport that requires unity, accountability, and sportsmanship.
Respect toward teammates, coaches, parents, officials, and other teams is the foundation of this program.
Any athlete who demonstrates repeated disrespect, unsportsmanlike behavior, bullying, harassment, or conduct detrimental to the team will be removed from the program.
Parent involvement is highly encouraged and greatly appreciated. Families can support the program by:
Hosting team pasta parties
Volunteering at meets
Cheering positively from the stands
