Students may see a play at any high school or community theatre in the Albuquerque area. Bring in a program or ticket stub from community theatre (for high school performances, the program must be stamped by the director at the end of the show) and write a 1 typed page review of the performance (2 pages hand written). Extra credit is due no later than 1 week after seeing the play. Points are doubled for an Eldorado HS performance. Maximum of 2 reviews per semester. For 1-Act Festivals, the student should select 1 play to review. Stamped program is still required. Please note that watching a play online will not count for this opportunity.** Parents, please contact the theatre before allowing your student to attend a performance. Make sure that the show is appropriate for middle school students.** The review should focus on the elements of acting that we have worked on in class.
Students may write a 2 typed page (3 pages hand written) report on any full length play they read. My approval should be gained prior to reading the play for the correct length. Maximum of 2 reports per semester. **Parents please research the plays your students want to read as there are many plays out there with inappropriate content for middle school.**
Students may attend any Hoover M.S. Band, Orchestra, or Chorus concert. Turn in the program from the concert the day after the concert and you will receive 5 points of extra credit. You may see as many concerts as the Hoover Band, Orchestra, and/or Chorus programs put on in a semester and receive 5 points each time. You can receive the points even if you are in band, orchestra, or chorus, but you still have to turn in the program.
