I am thrilled to join the San Antonito STEM Magnet School staff in what promises to be an exciting and enriching school year! My name is Dr. Neily Snook, and I am honored to work with the KEP teachers at SASM. I look forward to getting to know each of you and partnering to support your child’s growth and success.
I bring 28 years of teaching experience to the classroom, during which I have had the privilege of working with students across various grade levels and learning environments. In addition to my role as a Gifted Education teacher, I also serve as an adjunct instructor for preservice teachers at San Juan College, where I help prepare the next generation of educators. I am the President of the New Mexico Association for the Gifted, an organization dedicated to advocating for and supporting the unique needs of gifted learners.
I hold several academic and professional qualifications that guide my approach to teaching. I earned my Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education with a Science Endorsement from the University of New Mexico, which laid the foundation for my passion for fostering curiosity and a love for learning in students. I furthered my studies with a Master of Arts in Curriculum and Instruction from New Mexico State University, where I focused on creating engaging and effective learning experiences. Most recently, I earned a Doctorate in Psychology with an emphasis on Cognition and Instruction from Grand Canyon University, deepening my understanding of how students think and learn.
I am also proud to be a National Board Certified Teacher, a designation that reflects my commitment to high teaching standards and continuous professional growth. In my previous school district, I served as the Gifted Education Coordinator, in addition to my work as a Destination Imagination team manager and Math Olympiad instructional coach.
At the end of December, I relocated to Albuquerque with my husband, Lance. Our children live in Albuquerque, and we are excited to be closer to them. My older son, Eric is a mechanical engineer and works for BlueHalo. Eric is married to Darby, the school nurse for Comanche and Mitchell Elementary Schools in Albuquerque. My younger son, Josh, is finishing his Bachelor's degree at UNM. When I am not working, I enjoy walking in nature, photography, and curling up with a warm cup of tea to watch the brilliant New Mexico sunsets.
I aim to create a classroom environment where students feel valued, challenged, and inspired to reach their full potential. I believe education is a collaborative journey, and I am excited to work with you to support your child’s academic and personal development.
Please feel free to reach out to me at any time with questions, concerns, or ideas. Communication and family partnership are key to student success, and I am here to support you however I can.
Thank you for entrusting me with your child’s education. I look forward to an incredible year of learning and growth.
