Ms. Marcy's Class

2018-2019

Welcome Class! I am the new 2018-2019 Social Communication Support 2 Teacher at Dennis Chavez Elementary School. I have previous experience in Autism and have been trained by BMS's and BCBA's of Albuquerque Public Schools. I have worked with APS since 2015 were I started as and Educational Assistant while working towards my Bachelors in Art Education. I was then sent to the Highland Autism Center (The Complex now) for extra training on working with students with Autism. I have learned ABA practices and replacement behavior strategies. Working at the Complex has helped me in being able to de-escalate intense behaviors and almost never used cpi holds on students. I pride myself in being able to replace behaviors and use a token board system along with our Zones of Regulation to make sure your child is successful and is learning.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

I hope everyone is having a wonderful break. I for sure am missing everyone. I can't wait to get back and start the new year. We are going to be starting new lessons and earning our special Fridays! In ELA, we will be continuing to work on our NOUNS, ADJECTIVES, VERBS. Also, fluency, phonics, comprehension, vocabulary, writing and oral language. In MATH we will continue working on addition and subtraction with borrowing and regrouping. In SCIENCE we will start our new lesson with our SOLAR SYSTEM and in SOCIAL STUDIES we will continue to work on our COMMUNITY HELPERS. Finally, in LIFE SKILLS we will be working on individual goals and will begin discussing and documenting them in our binders.

In addition: Everyday our students take part in snack. I have hopes that your child will bring something nutritious. They are not required to bring one but do have the chances of not receiving one. Up till now, my staff and I, have been providing for those that are not currently bringing one. There have been cases where I run out of snacks. If you would like to send a snack that is specifically for your child, we can store it in the classroom. If you have any questions or concerns please email me at marcella.ramirez@aps.edu
