Bio

Bill Putz is an Economics and U.S. History teacher in room C-1 at Cibola High School.His extension is 40156 and his e-mail is putz@aps.edu. He has Economics 1st and 2nd , U.S. History 3rd and 6th and WGEO 5th. Mr. Putz usually arrives every morning between 6:30 and 6:45am to make himself available to students who may need to make up assignments or need additional help.


Mr. Putz has been teaching for 29 years in APS, 28 of them at Cibola. He received his undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of New Mexico where he earned his Masters in Education. Mr. Putz is in his 21st year as sponsor of the Bowling Club, which he started and he is primarily responsible for its growth into one of the largest in the state. He has also been the "Voice of the Cougars" for over 20 years and has announced Cougar Volleyball, Wrestling, Basketball (Boys and Girls), Baseball, Softball and numerous NMAA events, including several state tournaments, and countless school activities over the years.


Mr. Putz has also chaperoned numerous school activities and events, most recently the Bowling trip to Artesia, the Drama Club trip to Denver and the Football Booster Spirit Bus to Clovis. He has been a leading sponsor of the yearly "Giving Tree" campaign at Christmas. He organized the Camp Eggers Day at Cibola, where the school recognized the late Captain Daniel Eggers, and the U.S. soldiers who serve at the base in Afghanistan named in his honor. Mr. Putz has been the teacher of the month twice, in May of 1998 and in March of 2004 and received the Tim Fanning "Most Influential Teacher Award" in 2011. He lives in Albuquerque with Laura, his wife of 35 years, and his two children both graduated from Cibola. He is very proud of his two grandsons, Henry and Paul.
