Advisory

Hello, and welcome to the new school year!

I am Paloma Wells , and I will be your student’s Advisory teacher this year. I am excited to get to know all of the students in our class! 

The purpose of Advisory is to ensure that at least one adult in the school is getting to know each student well -- making sure their learning needs are being met, and encouraging them to make good academic choices, and explore college/career options for their future.   Advisories are designed to foster stronger adult-student relationships and a stronger sense of belonging and community among students.   Advisory time is also sometimes used for school-wide initiatives or communication -- assemblies, community events, or celebrations.  It is through a positive school culture that we meet the social and emotional needs of our students so they will feel safe and learn. Advisory groups are one of the many ways that schools can meet that need.
