About Me!!

I am a graduate of the University of New Mexico, with a Bachelor's in Communications Disorders and a Minor in English. I began my education career with Albuquerque Public Schools way back in 2000, as a Speech-Language Therapist. A year later, wanting more of an impact with my students, I began working toward my Alternative Teaching Licensure through NMPED's Transition-to-Teaching program and moved into the Elementary school classroom, where I taught Special Education for 11 years. Ten years ago, I transferred here to Volcano Vista High School, mainly teaching gifted electives, with some Special Education English/History and general electives classes sprinkled in here and there. For the past 3 years, I've taught Small Group English (9,10, 11), Inclusion English 12 and Inclusion US History.

My Family

I am the proud parent of three wildly different children, all of whom have attended, and graduated from Volcano Vista High School. Thomas graduated in 2014 and is working on his Computer Programming degree. Nick graduated in 2017, attends NM Highlands University and his doing his Student Teaching this year. Sara graduated in May, 2021 and attends NMSU pursuing her Nursing degree.

FYI, my kids hate the picture, but I couldn't resist since they all have the exact same smirk on their faces!!

Max, Sasha, Kodi,

and Chelsea

I am also a dog mom to, now three, wild and crazy dogs, who burf and bark, yip and howl at any noise, inside and out. Chelsea (terrier/spaniel cross), Sasha (red husky), and Kodi (shepherd/rottweiler cross). Our Old Man, Max, the 14 year old Beagle went off on his own adventure during COVID summer.

On My Own Time

On my own time I am an avid crocheter, with tons of family to make blankets, sweaters, scarves, and No-Drama Llamas for. I also love to garden (my kids call it re-arranging the yard), read and BAKE!

I also like to repurpose things

Like taking old daybeds and turning them into Bird, Butterfly, and Bee Gardens :)
