School Counseling Services

Elementary School Counselors provide a comprehensive School Counseling Program addressing academic, personal/social, and career development. The School Counseling Program is designed to meet the needs of ALL students. The primary focus is to reduce barriers to learning. All students will meet with the School Counselor at different times throughout the school year. Students may be referred for services by a staff member, family member, peer, and/or self-referral.


Individual counseling

The school counselor meets with students individually and on a short term (3 to 4 sessions) basis. The meetings are to help students adjust to school or help with personal issues on an as needed basis.


Small Groups

Small groups are offered throughout the school year depending on the referrals. Parents are notified when their children are selected to particpate. Typical topics may inlcude: family issues such as separation and divorce, grief and loss, study skills, friendship issues, etc.

Classroom Guidance

Classroom guidance lessons are provided throughout the school year to discuss various issues including; test-taking skills, problem solving, decision making, friendship & relationship issues with peers, conflict resolution, bullying, stress, etc.
