Standards
Fourth-Grade curriculum is created around the Common Core State Standards in math and ELA. Although meeting the state standards is our ultimate goal, I would also like my students to be challenged beyond the state standards.
Curriculum
Mathematics: We currently use the Common Core aligned program called iReady. I will use supplemental material to differentiate as needed to meet individual student needs. It is very important that students know their multiplication facts this year.
English Language Arts: We are implementing Savvas reading curriculum as well as other resources this year. They will read and write everyday. Please encourage your child to read nightly.
Social Studies: Students will be studying geography, the history of New Mexico, Government and Economics using teacher created lessons.
Science: The standards covered are Earth and Space, life science and physical science. APS will be using an online resource called Mystery Science.
