My name is Christina Nunez and I am a Fourth grade teacher in Albuquerque, New Mexico. I graduated from the University of New Mexico with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Education with a Spanish minor, and later with my Masters in Elementary Education. I hold a Level III teaching license with a TESOL endorsement.
I have taught with Albuquerque Public Schools for 17 years, 9 at Barcelona Elementary School; 1 year at Zuni Elementary School and finally at Seven Bar Elementary. Prior to teaching I was a substitute EA. Children are in every aspect of my life. I am a teacher during the day, I am a mom at home, and I am a Sunday School teacher on the weekends. I am an enthusiastic, caring educator whose primary goal is to never stop growing as a teacher. I love to incorporate a variety of different educational methodologies into my teaching, while still maintaining my own “voice”. I love to create activities that are hands-on, engaging and exciting for my students and my children, but are still challenging. I pride myself on redefining and expanding my experience to be a better teacher every year. I love to incorporate technology into my classroom and this year I am excited to use this website as a tool for parents and students.
A huge thank you to the following businesses for their donations- Please show them your support by giving them your business.
Students have their names written down on cards. All students start their names on green everyday. Green is for students who are on task and working well in teams.
This system is based on the 1, 2, 3 magic system. When student are off task for any inappropriate behaviors (excessive talking, disrespectful attitude etc.) they need to move their name down to the next color. Each color has a specific consequence.
BLUE- is a warning. The consequence is just a reminder to behave.
YELLOW- Student receives a warning and the behavior is documented in my notes.
ORANGE- Student needs to sit out for 5 minutes and write down their behavior to be signed in their student agendas by parents.
RED- Student is sent to another teacher or to the office depending on severity of the action. Parents are called.
I keep track of student behaviors in teams and individually using the classroom platform called CLASS DOJO. Each student has an individual account and a log in number that was sent home. Students receive 1 point for every 5 team points they earn in class. They lose points for behavior and missing homework assignments. Students color the calendar in their agenda's with the color they were on for that particular date. Please look at the month section of the calendar in the student agendas.
