Welcome to 3rd Grade!
I’m so excited to begin this journey with you! This year, we’ll focus on developing a growth mindset, setting personal goals, and striving for excellence in everything we do. Our classroom will be a space where everyone’s unique strengths shine, and we’ll work together to build a community rooted in teamwork, hard work, creativity, and respect for one another.

We’ll challenge ourselves, learn from our mistakes, and celebrate every success along the way. Get ready to explore new ideas, build lasting friendships, and most importantly, develop a lifelong love for learning!

Meet Mrs. McKeown

Hello!

My name is Mrs. McKeown and I am so excited to be teaching 3rd grade this year. This will be my fourth school year at Chelwood. I love getting to work with our Cheetahs and turn them into young role models. 

I am NM born and raised. I went to Eldorado High school and enjoy working and teaching in the areas where my husband and I attended school. 

I have a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from UNM. I am fond of nature, animals, and movies. I look forward to building connections with students and encouraging their educational goals. We have a year of hard work and wonderful memories ahead!

My teaching philosophy is rooted in cultivating a growth mindset, celebrating individual achievement, and inspiring a lifelong love of learning. I strive to create a classroom community built on cooperation, perseverance, creativity, and mutual respect. By setting high expectations, I aim to empower each student to reach their full potential and become the best version of themselves.
