Word Roots
Word Roots
Words play an enormous part in our lives and are therefore deserving of the closest study. ~ Aldous Huxley
Word Roots is designed to help students expand their spelling, vocabulary, and comprehension skills.
Etymology
Etymology is the study of the origin and the historical development of words. It explains the earliest known use of a word, its transition from one language to another, and how it changed form and meaning over time.
Homework
Units will be assigned bi-weekly and assessments will be on Fridays. Please do your best to plan no absences on those days.
Quarterly Book Projects
Quarterly Book Projects
I assign Book Projects instead of Book Reports. Students have an entire quarter to complete the project. They must choose a novel that will commensurate with their intelligence. It must be a book they have not read before and not made into a movie. I have a list of book recommendations on my home page.
