Course Description

Info tech is a semester-long course where students build mastery in typing both alpha and numeric keys. In addition, students learn how to utilize the applications within the Google Suite (docs, sheets, slides, sites, drawing, Gmail, etc.). All applications taught provide skills that are applicable across the curriculum and useful throughout your school years and beyond. In addition, the course also focuses on internet safety and how to be good digital citizens. The course wraps up with a quick introduction to Coding and Python. Misuse of Technology

Games and off task behavior continue to be an increasing problem with the access to technology. I will implement the following protocol regarding classroom behavior in Info Tech:

Student Warning
Letter- parent signature required
Phone Call- Student will call home during class
Loss of Privilege- Student will lose their computer privilege for the class period and the work will need to be completed at home. An email will be sent notifying you of the incident.

Grading Policies and Information

Middle school involves learning responsibility and organization, while also navigating the social and emotional aspects of relationships. It can be a challenging time but the students will thrive with your support. Communication is key to their success and I look forward to partnering with you in their educational journey.

Grades are ultimately the student's responsibility. They should be on task in class, ask questions when they need help/clarification and utilize the resources provided to them with each assignment.

Students should be checking their grades regularly! They are expected to do this each Tuesday during advisory to help create the habit. They should be clicking into each class and looking at the grades they have earned on each assignment and not just the overall grade. Video: Navigating ParentVue

The weekly typing grade will be based on time spent in class typing! I will expect students to type for 10 minutes a day for a total of 50 minutes per 5 day week. They will then receive a grade out of 5 points each week. (ex. 30 minutes of typing would earn a 3 out of 5 points).

We are currently working through the Google suite and most if not all of the assignments have step-by-step directions with images to help them work through the assignment and learn where to find tools within the Google application they are working in at the time.

If a student is absent, they are still responsible for the work they have missed. Students should be able to access all assignments in Google Classroom. If they have questions or need help on an assignment while they are absent, they should contact me via email or talk to me when they return. I will not chase them down to get missing work from an absence. This is the student's responsibility.
