Hello, I'm Mrs. Saenz! I was born and raised in Albuquerque, NM. I graduated from the University of New Mexico in 2007 with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education. When I’m not teaching my fabulous students, I enjoy traveling and spending time with my wonderful husband, two amazing kiddos, and my adorable Chihuahua-Shih Tzu named Sofie.
I believe that communication is imperative for building a successful learning community. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions, comments, or concerns.
I will be using SchoolStatus Connect (formerly ClassTag) as my primary source of communication. It has a feature for whole group messaging along with individual messaging between parent and teacher. I ask that all parents sign up with the SchoolStatus Connect app on your smartphone so we can easily be connected. If you used ClassTag last year, I am working on connecting you to my class. If not, please check for the emailed invite.
AGENDAS: Your child should bring their Agenda with them to school every day. The Agenda serves as a communication tool between home and the classroom. Daily homework and Specials classes for the following day will be written in it daily. It also serves as a reading log for your child. They will be required to read daily, Monday-Thursday, for a minimum of 20 minutes and write the title of their book in their agenda. I encourage you to ask your child to tell you what they read about each day. You will need to read and initial their agenda every day, Monday-Friday.
MATH: Math practice sheets will be sent home, as needed, to reinforce concepts, and will be due the following day. This year, students will be learning multiplication facts 1-12 and will take timed quizzes over each fact (they will be given 1 minute to complete twelve facts). Our goal in third grade is for students to be able to fluently recall multiplication facts 1-10. In order to make this possible, practice at home is necessary. Facts can be reviewed through flashcards (we will make these in class to study), games, websites, and apps. While games and websites are a fun way to provide extra practice, quizzing your child orally as often as possible is very effective as well. Your support at home is very much appreciated.
*Please check your child's Homework folder each day for homework and completed assignments. Students will not have homework on Fridays unless they do not complete classwork.

Volunteers:
There may be times when we need chaperones for fieldtrips and/or volunteers to help with crafts and earned class celebrations.
