*These policies may be revised as needed
These policies are in place to ensure that you child learns in the classroom every day. Students should put forth their best effort at all times. This includes completing quality classwork and homework, maintaining a growth mindset, being respectful, responsible, and safe. Students that consistently complete classwork, homework, and have good behavior in the classroom and on the playground will be celebrated throughout the year!

Staying on task for learning is critical to your child’s success this school year. Our focus in the classroom is teamwork, citizenship, and positive behavior that promotes learning. Students are expected to have the utmost respect for themselves and other children and adults at school. We have a visual magnetic chart reminder to remind us of how we’re doing on a daily basis. The chart allows movement towards the goal of outstanding job or away from the goal, requiring refocus and possible consequences including parent and/or principal contact. Students begin the day each day on Ready to Learn and can stay there or have positive as well as negative movement. The goal is to see positive behaviors and movement towards outstanding student status. If your child ends the day on “Outstanding” they will get a sticker on their outstanding student chart! Every Friday children that have earned an outstanding student sticker during the week get to pick a reward from the prize box. Once your child has received 10 stickers on their chart, they will get to have lunch with me on a Friday. If they earn 25 Outstanding student stickers they will get to eat a fast food kid’s meal, of their choosing, with me in the classroom! If your child’s behavior goes in the wrong direction they will either get a warning or have consequences dependent on their behavior. If your child moves in a negative direction at any point during the day and lands on Parent Contact I will write them a refocus report and give consequences dependent on their behavior. I will also write you a note in their agenda and/or a refocus report depending on the behavior. The note and/or refocus reports should be signed.
· Ready to Learn
· Great Effort
· Excellent Choices
· Outstanding
· Think About It
· Make Better Choices
· Parent Contact – The child must leave the classroom (principal’s office or another teacher’s classroom) and will receive consequences depending on the behavior/s.
Some behaviors will not be tolerated under any circumstance and will put your child at “Parent Contact” behavior automatically: physically hurting of any sort or threatening to physically hurt others, cursing, and/or aggressive behaviors.
Student behaviors will be dealt with on an individual basis. Every child has different needs. When your child has an issue with another child that results in a consequence, your child’s consequences are private as well as the other child’s consequences. APS honors student confidentiality.
I hope to see a lot of positive behaviors that promote learning this school year. I look forward to giving a lot of prizes and rewards for outstanding student behaviors.
