Attendance is based on how much a student has engaged in their assigned online courses. This is not indicative of the amount to which the student understands the content, nor their grade in the class, but instead, is a measure of a student’s engagement. Attendance will be taken monthly on the last Monday of each month.
Students will be marked absent if they don't engage in their online classes for 10 or more days and/or if they have a grade below a 70% and/or they are behind 20% or more in their course.
Students have 24/7 access to their online course. Students will have required work for each school day, Monday though Friday. This can take a student 4 to 6 hours to complete weekly, for each course, for the five day school week. The required work will determine the target completion goal and their actual grade. Both of these percents will change daily as students complete the required work.
Students who do not regularly engage in the course will be marked absent based on the number of times a student engages/works on the required assigned assignments in the course within a week and if the student is staying on track with the course or is falling behind.
eCADEMY Students will receive the following attendance rating based on the scale below:
Attendance Key:
ABS -- Absent, student has not logged on to eCADEMY Course in 10 or more days and/or has a 70% or below by the last Monday of the month or is 20% or more behind in their course.
eCADEMY Lab Attendance is taken by the Lab teachers at individual school sites and only for students who are registered for the labs. Attendance for labs will be taken for each class period missed. This attendance is tied to their home school.

Grades:
Grades will be entered into Synergy by 8:00am every Monday. The grade you need to pay attention to is the Actual Grade.
Remember there are 3 grades on the Imagine Learning Progress Report:
1) Actual Grade: this is a paced grade so it takes into consideration all the work you SHOULD have completed up to the current date. Anything you haven't done is scored as a 0, which causes your Actual Grade to be lower than the Overall Grade. This is the grade we use throughout the semester to post grades in Synergy and progress reports.
2) Relative Grade: this grade should only be looked at when we get to the end of the semester. If this grade is above a 60%, you are guaranteed to pass. However, if you do not finish the course or you do not take the final exam at the end of the semester, you will be given this grade on your report card/transcript.
3) Overall Grade: this is a "Quality of Work" grade and is only grading the material you have actually done.
Ultimately at the end of the semester if you have completed all of your work and taken the final exam, all three of these grades should be the same.
Grading Reminders:
Students need to complete their own work. Any plagiarism will result in a zero.
I will grade all written assignments that are not automatically graded within 24 hours, Monday through Friday.
Students may request a redo on work they have completed. The redo must be requested and completed within one week of the original assignment being graded and may be granted at the discretion of the instructor.
Students automatically receive three retakes on quizzes and tests. Students may request additional retakes if there is a verified technical issue or at the discretion of the instructor.
Requests to redo work to improve a grade will be considered only when the student has completed all of the other course work BEFORE the final exam. This is at the discretion of the teacher and only if time permits.
I generally post weekly grades in StudentVue/ParentVue on Sundays, they are required to be posted on Mondays by 8:00am, outside of school holidays.
Keep in Mind that grades can fluctuate from hour to hour, day to day, and week to week, depending on how much work and time your student is dedicating to their course work. Edgenuity Grades and Synergy Grades don't always match.
APS has a zero tolerance Plagiarism policy. In my courses I do not allow plagiarism. Plagiarism is any section of a short answer or project that has been copied from another source, person, or directly from Imagine Learning, without proper citation and giving credit to the original author for their ideas. I do not give credit to any written assignment that is plagiarized and will not allow students to re-do plagiarized assignments.
The use of Brainly.com, Quizlet.com, or any other online source or app are also prohibited for any part of online courses. The use of these sites to complete online work is considered cheating and will result in a zero for the assignment. It is encouraged that students take notes and use outside sources to assist in comprehension of the material, however it is never acceptable to copy and paste questions into google to find the answer or to copy and paste answers from outside sources into Imagine Learning. This includes copying and pasting answers from the note taking guides in Imagine Learning.
When a student plagiarizes their work I will send one email notification to parents and students. This will serve as the one and only warning to students and parents to cease the plagiarism, nonsense answers or skipping material. After this initial contact I will award zeros for any and all assignments that are plagiarized from this point forward. Students who make a choice to skip, provide nonsense answers or plagiarize will earn zeros for the work that they submit from this point forward, they will be no make-ups.
Also, students should be aware that I utilize Blocksi in my labs and as needed throughout the day per APS policies. I encourage parents to set up their own Blocksi so that you can monitor your student while they are working in their online courses.
Take notes! This is the easiest way to pass quizzes and tests on the first try. Don’t waste time having to redo quizzes and tests due to low grades.
DO NOT PLAGIARIZE! Your course, your work. Copied and pasted answers and projects are not acceptable, and will earn zeros with no ability to re-do them. Continued attempts to turn in plagiarized material could result in disciplinary action.
Your ACTUAL GRADE will be posted on Monday morning by 8:00am. You can view it in StudentVUE.
An average of 1 hour a day, 4-6 hours per week, is necessary for each Imagine Learning course you take.
You should be logging on and completing work in Imagine Learning DAILY.
Final Exams are worth 15% of your grade and you will only have one attempt on it so take it seriously. It can make the difference of one or two letter grades for your course.
Ask me when you have a question or need help.
Check your APS email, StudentVue messages, the Imagine Learning message center, texts, my site, and classrooms at least once a week for important announcements and information. There are no excuses for "not knowing" about something.
EXPLORE the course. Imagine Learning is loaded with many learning tools and features including the assignment calendar, progress report, organizer, language selection, session logs, message system, note taking guides, transcripts, and closed captioning just to name a few.
Work towards earning a 70% on everything.
You can access videos and instruction as many times as needed to understand the content and you can pause the videos while taking notes.
Imagine Learning presents everything to students in a sequential order, you cannot skip things until you have completed them. You can always go back, but you cannot skip forward.
All course work must be completed and submitted within Imagine Learning, and everything must be completed in order to take the final exam.
Students can proceed through the course at their own pace, however, courses will close at the end of the semester, no extensions, no exceptions.
Taking Notes is so important in a math class. Here are Guided Notes that you can use for any of your Imagine Learning Math Classes. You can download them and/or print them and use them as reference for every unit and section of your math class.
Great Resource!
